M26 intermediate use for art and culture
In the M26, 2 studio rooms for "Local Artists in Residence" were awarded for three months.
I got one of them.
Therefore, from April 1st, I will work in the interaction with this room and the people there.
There is already a small foretaste here. Prints such as the "Ruined frame" series will be seen and participatory exhibits and workshops will now offer, from now on, in Maximilianstrasse 26, in the Regensburg pedestrian zone.
In April 2023, I gathered a place for a “Local Artist in Residence” to move into an atelier on the premises of the “M26” art gallery in Regensburg city center. This free use gave me the opportunity to create unique works and venture into new techniques in an artistic environment. I had the studio until the beginning of 2024, when I finished my bachelors. This has resulted in creative graphic works, objects, and drawings, a small selection of which can be seen on these pages.
"DISCARDED GLASS FRAMES"
Frameless picture holders with glass fronts are very fragile and often break during transportation. However, as their properties are ideal for presenting prints and photos in a high-quality way and they provide a certain degree of protection from the weather, it is a shame that they often end up in the bin.
That's why I made enquiries with dealers and was able to buy these frames from them for a small fee or completely free of charge.
Now the qualities of a picture are particularly visible through its geometric presentation. However, as these frames no longer have a geometric shape, but are split at random points according to the rules of physics, not just any picture can be mounted in them.
For this reason, I decided to create or reinterpret digital works with a lot of life in them.
The randomized form of the frames in particular allows works to be designed for a given context, namely a finished frame. This also gives a completely new meaning to the nonsensical meaningfulness of art, not to be satisfied with the frame, which seems to press two-dimensional exhibits into the same predetermined geometric context.
Works from the "Riot furniture" series and works from this year's final semester of the industrial design bachelor at regensburg will be shown at the exhebition.
Baustellen (= ital. Siti di construcione), because our projects are still to be considered as work in progress or conceptual art as well as political activism.
The exhibits can be seen for the first time and were created especially for the exhibition. Some unique pieces and works of art are for sale.
We look forward to your visit!
